About the role
You will work across applied research and product engineering to design, evaluate, and ship machine-learning systems for complex enterprise and scientific workflows. This role is hands-on: you will own experiments, production services, evaluation harnesses, and the technical decisions between them.
What you will do
- Design and productionise LLM, multimodal, retrieval, and classical ML systems.
- Build rigorous offline and online evaluation pipelines for quality, safety, latency, and cost.
- Partner with domain specialists to turn ambiguous operational problems into testable ML objectives.
- Develop data pipelines, model services, agentic workflows, and human-in-the-loop controls.
- Raise engineering quality through thoughtful reviews, observability, documentation, and incident learning.
What you bring
- 0–1 years of experience building and shipping applied ML or AI products in Python.
- Strong grasp of model evaluation, statistics, data structures, APIs, and distributed systems fundamentals.
- Experience with PyTorch, modern LLM tooling, vector retrieval, and cloud-native deployment.
- Ability to communicate trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical partners.
- A bias toward simple, secure, testable systems over impressive demos.
Helpful, not required
- Experience with regulated or high-assurance environments.
- Familiarity with optimisation, scientific computing, or quantum-classical workflows.
- Contributions to open-source ML infrastructure or published applied research.
